History Of Oasis

The original Oasis Renewal Center was founded in 1990 by Carol Burns Smelley to be an interdenominational place of refreshment and Christian renewal located on 41 acres in west Little Rock. During its years of operation, it offered many seminars, workshop, retreats, and support groups.

In 2024, the goal for interdenominational Christian Renewal was revived through the estate of Wes and Carol Burns Smelley, which established a generous fund for Christian Renewal programming. Partnering with St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in west Little Rock, a renewed vision was established to offer spiritual refreshment for all who may seek it.

Goals Of Oasis

The Oasis is an interdenominational Christian ministry. Its purposes are to:

  1. Deepen the foundations of Christian thinking and heighten the practice of Christian living through engagement with substantive Christian writings, stimulating speakers and teachers, and practical tools for daily living.

  2. Help believers and seekers know and follow the Way of Jesus Christ as revealed in Holy Scripture.

  3. Equip people spiritually to walk in justice and compassion and to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world.

  4. Support and supplement the ministry of local churches, enriching interdenominational Christian fellowship.
